Can anyone out there tell me why some annuals for i.e. Tiger 1974, have the year on the cover and other Tiger 1974 annuals do not?

I've heard stories that annuals without the date could be a test copy and are worth more than the other ones. Can someone shed some light on this please?

Crikey, this is one from a while ago! As an example, the "Cor!!" annuals released in Britain had the year printed on the front cover, but the same book released in New Zealand did not. I assume this was so the annual could be released overseas at a date later than that printed on the British cover. Bit of a cunning trick!
