Dinky toys mini-stories in comics

Post by rossobantam »

I have a great fondness for not just comics themselves but also the adverts contained within them, esp the ones for toys & games

One of my fav series is for Dinky toys....a cool ad in a mini-drama format that made you want to actually read it :)

I don't know how many there are in total, but here's a few I have (taken from Battle 1976 and Battle & Valiant 1977):

Not forgetting the unfortunately named Inchman from the late sixties promoting Dinky Toys. :)

When you mention Inchman I automatically think of the back cover of the IPC Smash!

A bit earlier than that, Steve. It was on the back of the Odhams issues of Smash! in 1967. An example is at the link I posted.

There was also a continuing strip called 'Dinky Driver' drawn by Jon Davis which appeared on the back pages of Solo during 1967.

Yes it was Smash! when it had the red title masthead just before the change to IPC. Sad days when the Power comics joined together and slowly died. I've just been going through my Terrifics and saw the ad for the new Pow! and Wham! under the great news heading.
