Found an old bookshop in North Berwick and got Valiant 1967 and Victor 1971 Annuals for £1 each and Superboy Annual1963-4 (i.e. a British hardback) for £8. None in great nick but I don't care.

Travelling Man seems the best shop for this, with at least 32 free comics available, and you get to pick whichever ones you want, though there are only four branches: in York, Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle.

I'm in Hull, so that would've meant a train journey with no guarantee of getting them (after all, there are 50 titles listed on the FCBD website). I'm hoping digital editions will show up on Comixology.

Well, they did have a big pile each of both the Doctor Who and Bongo ones, but a hefty train fare obviously takes away from getting these things for free!

Brickman Begins!
Brickman Returns!
Davy Francis's Funny Ha-ha magazine Issue 3
Rok of the Reds issue 1
The bizarre Adventures of Gilbert and Sullivan
Dandy dated 17 September 1977
Dandy Book 1968

You'd think I was at Enniskillen Comicfest yesterday or something.

Whoopee #1 and #3 both with free gifts
Cracker #2 with free gift
50 Crunch comics to hopefully tidy up my collection so 50 "swapsies" will be loaded back on Ebay next week.

I'm looking at quite a few lots over the next couple of days so comic reserve funds are taking a bashing!

Went to the book fair at the Royal National yesterday and got 1971 Broons book and two Radio Fun free gift pamphlets of Radio and TV Stars - from around 1954/55 I think. £4.00 each. I was tempted to buy a Popeye 50th (or 60th) Anniversary book for £8 but decided not, as much as i like popeye I just don't have the space.

From Phil's latest auction, I won Dandy complete year 1977 for £82. At first, I thought I had shelled out a little too much; then, on observation, noted that the year 1978 went for a penny less and that the year 1979 went for £2 less. Although, I do recall winning a complete year of Beano (1977) for half the price over a year ago. But then, at the same time, I have noted that Beano issues appear to be more available than Dandy. At the end of the day, I've paid less than £2 for every issue of Dandy from 1977,when postage is calculated. How can I grumble?

And then, on realization, I paid £22 for a run of Mickey Mouse comics between late 1976 and early 1978 (75 in total) a couple of weeks ago. Of course, I got lucky there, didn't I? Obviously, I'm still trying to convince myself over the Dandy sale :?

Hi, Phoenix, how's the progress on your book, regarding girl's comics? And then, of course, your project on Victor?

Ahh so it was you that outbid me on that :) I won the 1979 issues so I'm sort of glad I didn't win both at those prices my bank would not be happy!

On May 7th, Col, you managed to add five illustrations to a post. How did you manage that when everybody else is restricted to three?
