Okay, I've tried to find out who the artist on the original 'Project SWORD' strip, to little avail. Does the style ring any bells here?:

And the second, I have a name, but would like it confirmed, and some more details about him/her if possible:

This artist is named 'F. Belsia' in a 'TV21' checklist published some years ago. Having acquired a job lot of 1960s 'Diana' comics a while back, I note the same artist drew 'The Seven Sisters' and 'Emergency Nurse Gwen' around 1967/68, so I wondered if Kashgar had come across any more formal credits in his DC Thomson research?

Not a total expert but to me it screams John Ridgeway. He's currently providing excellent art for Commando and it compares very well.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Really? :? Funnily enough I would have said 'Belsia' was more like John Ridgway's style. I even asked him if it was but he said no...

Edit: Found John's email, from 2004, and he states that in the late 1960s ('Project SWORD' was 1967) that 'I was only drawing part-time around that period - and only for Commando.'

So sorry, unlikely to be him in either case.

A new one for you lot! 8)

I believe the artwork dates from the early/mid 1980s...

Any ideas?

Not being an expert at all,but it compares to a lot of artwork seen in Misty. If the artists on that stellar tome have been identified already, might just uncover the mystery.Or maybe not as the case may be.What do you think,Colin?

Yeah I had the same inkling, and thought it might be Norman Lee doing some more detailed stuff - there are hints of his kind of style but not 100% sure.

Kashgar - you there in my time of need?

Hi Shaqui, I can definitely say that it isn't Norman Lee so that it was one name you can cross off the list.

It might be a stupid idea, but maybe, just maybe, it's one of Tony O'Donnell's early renditions.

I had an inkling it was the same artist who did the 'V' storybook a couple of years later...

The colouring looks like John Burns, but that's probably way off

BTW Shaqui do we have any idea where this page appeared in the 1980's as it might help with identification?

'V' was one of the big TV events of 1984, so I think that we can safely say that this annual was somewhere in the 1984 to 1987 region.

I loved that series then, but watching it now is cringeworthy stuff!
