"It would have been a lot cheaper to get an emergency electrician". That's what I was informed of this evening after we had an electrics problem that shorted out all of the plug sockets in 3 rooms including the lounge, so no TV.

I decided to spend my new-found free time having a good browse on Ebay.........

Tonight's purchases were:

Free gift football posters from Jag #2 and #3
Tit-Bits Science Fiction comics #1, #3, #4 & #5 - only 6 in the set so it's another collection started if I like them!
216 Commando comics - mainly very recent ones up to #4950. 100-150 issues that I didn't have.

She does have a point but I'm chuffed with what I managed to find tonight! Hopefully the problem will magically sort itself out in the morning........

Set out worrying about climate change, the weatherman said clear and it looked like it was going to rain to me.
Reached the charity shop and got---

Alan Moore's tomorrow stories 1(1998)--(bought one of this series last week)----£1
Marvel GROO the wanderer (1987)-----------------------------------------------£1
Marvel CONAN the barbarian (1986)---------------------------------------------£1
Archie adventure series THE FOX (1984)-----------------------------------------£1

Played it safe today regarding reading matter choosing stuff I know I will enjoy as against more unknown titles.
They had two Denis Gifford books in the shop today one that I already have The great Cartoon Stars who's who and Happy Days a 100yrs of comics both priced at £7.50.

Being a fan of Archie superheroes, it's always good to hear of fans picking up The Fox and getting to know the character. Never a member of the Mighty Crusaders, he has always been a one of the lesser known Archie heroes. I'd like to suggest you keep your eyes peeled for the 1983 3 issue run of Black Hood which features Fox back up stories. I can't remember if he's in #1 but #2 has a superb Alex Toth drawn Fox story and #3 has a Gray Morrow drawn Fox story. They should be cheap and I can't recommend #2 highly enough.

Black Hood covers look good at comic database, will definitely watch out for them.l always prefer the superhero working with everyday people in everyday situations rather than being too fantastic and unbelievable.

Got my first issue of Smash! (IPC revamp) today. Apart from its immaculate condition, it's a great comic and easily matches its companion papers - Valiant and Lion.

Am so glad I have taken up collecting it and can't wait for my other issues to arrive. Not often make such a judgement based on the annual.

As it is the 40th bash of 2000AD this weekend, it seems appropriate that I found the 2000AD Space Quiz book today. I also picked up the 1965 Girl Annual too.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I was browsing through the comics gallery the other day and saw the #1 Scoops, what a fantastic cover, and 'Regarded as the very first specialist anthology of science fiction stories for the UK market'.

I've got to try and find one for sale I thought, so off to have a look on ebay. There it was, a mere £240.

However I have since managed to track one down at a fraction of that price, haven't got it yet, but its on its way.

Went to the book fair at the Royal National on Sunday, only spent a lady godiva but one purchase was The Comic Art of Charlie Chaplin. A tabloid size book in near mint condition for a mere £3. Other £2 went on four women's mags from 1950.

Bought this book from a pound shop a few years ago and dug it out a couple of days ago to find out whether the artist Tony Wolf was british or american, it turns out he was neither real name Antonio Lupatella(italian) the name probably being a literal translation to english Antonio(Tony) Lupatella (wolf, lupine).According to online sources he worked U.K. comics JACK AND JILL, PLAYHOUR , and some Sooty annuals.
A fine artist.
