Irish comics creators

Hi - new board member here. I'm the main editor of the Irish Comics Wiki, and I'm looking for information about Irish writers and artists who have worked in UK comics. I have 22 such writers and artists so far. Artists I'm particularly interested in knowing more about include:

*Paddy Brennan - drew for DC Thomson for many years, Lambiek profile says he was Irish
*Paddy Nevin - from Ballymena, drew for Eagle, Girl, Swift, TV Comic and others
*Shamus O'Doherty - drew for the Dandy

Information on any other Irish comic creators anyone knows about also gratefully received.

Cheers DigiFiend. Do you know anything about him as a person - where he came from, his personal life, any other biographical detail, any work he did outside comics? I'm guessing that, like Paddy Nevin, he was in the forces - any Irishman in the army comes out called Paddy, whatever his original name was (Nevin's was Frederick Walter, and Paddy Ashdown, who grew up in Donaghadee, is actually Jeremy John Durham Ashdown).

Googling seems to only bring up Wikipedia, Lambiek, and lots of stuff about a namesake jockey. I don't know much else about him, and this is making it hard to find out.

Good work! Quite a few in that list I've never heard of. That list includes annual only stories I guess, as Rollo I'm sure was a one-off, about a roller skater who stopped a thief at the docks, who happened to be the owner of the local rink. The tied up diver who had been robbed, ended up taking over the rink. It was later redrawn by another artist for a Fun Size Dandy.

Couldn't use the name Jimbo and Bimbo these days. How times change.

I've been relooking at Paddy's work.it is just sooo good..

His style was still good in the 70's...what was his last strip?
was it when Topper and Beezer changed in 1980 and his strips became reprints?

The Amazing Peet in Topper is good fun and love the 50's Fighting Frazers...
will do more blog posts on Paddy..

Also can anyone put up some of his girl comic work up here..from Judy and Bunty..
it would be great to see more of his work that I've not seen..

Interestingly, in The History of the Beano, it mentions that Paddy Brennan was one of David Sutherland's favourite artists when he read the Beano. So his first strip, Danny on a Dolphin, was drawn in a similar style to Brennan, and Dave later drew General Jumbo, which of course was originally a Paddy Brennan strip.
