Fred's Bed alternate ending

Apparently the Beano editor didn't like the original planned ending for this week's Fred's Bed, so it was changed. But the original script has been posted on the website! I can understand why it was changed, although it's a shame, as the original ending is better than the Vesuvius one we ended up with.

I thought it was interesting to see that. I personally preferred the original ending, though like you I can see why Alan rejected that idea. It would have been funny. I think that the actual ending didn't really work because it seemed too much like a Tim Traveller strip rather than a Fred's Bed strip. What often happens in Fred's Bed is that in the end something or someone from wherever Fred has ended up comes back under his bed, whereas they all ended up in a different time period this week. In Tim Traveller, the former never really happened (the latter did happen I think though).

Have there been any other strips we know of that have had their endings changed? I can think one of - Kev F's story where Lord Snooty was in the haunted castle. In the ending that was used, he turned the castle into a theme park, but the original ending I believe played on the fact that Snooty was an orphan and was unhappy that all the kids (ie the other Beano characters) would all be leaving and he would be alone, but Euan told him to rewrite it.
