No Dennis on the cover this week...

Discuss or comment on anything relating to D.C.Thomson's second longest running comic. The home of Dennis the Menace. Has been running since 1938.

No Dennis on the cover this week...

Post by Digifiend »

Mario and Luigi have stolen Dennis's front cover spot this week! I hope that's not be a sign of things to come...

And it looks like Fred('s Bed) meets another time traveller...

I'm sure this is not the first time this has happened. However, it seems a bit of a strange move when you consider Dennis has his recent TV series, and Mario and Luigi have nothing to do with the Beano, whereas with Wallace and Gromit last week, Nick Park is a Beano fan, and where W & G live is based on Beanotown to a certain extent.

From the panel of Fred's Bed, it looks like Hunt Emerson, but I could be wrong.

It's just a promotional thing. You'll notice Super Mario take up the entire four pages of the cover. I'm sure The Beano has done something similar before, with other promotions for movies or games. The Dandy certainly has. Adverts always increase in comics on the run up to Christmas.

Yes, Fred's Bed is by Hunt this week. He's signed it on page two of the story.

Five e-pounds says Fred has travelled to the fifties and has found an ordinary police box... haha.

Like in an episode of Sarah Jane Adventures where she's at her wit's end with some trouble, then see's a police box and comes running towards it going "doctor! doctor!", then a copper steps out and drawls "you'll be wantin' to go to the 'orspital down the road", or something.

You're about right, but it was actually the 1960s, not the 1950s. I always thought that Fred looked like Hunt's work, but when I posted yesterday I hadn't seen the comic yet. Lew has confirmed this anyway, so thank you.

Yeah, The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith, where Sarah Jane and Luke had been sent back in time by the Trickster.

*sigh*

Digifiend, if you're gonna post up pics, make sure they're from your own source (ie photobucket, flickr, and the rest) as hot linking is severely frowned upon within messageboards.

That is, of course, if you have the copyright to reproduce this. Hang on a minute, I think I'm repeating myself again. I've said this before in another thread some time ago.

The more that this is happening, the more I'm gonna point this out. No one else is doing it, and it looks like I'm picking on you. Which I'm not.

One pedantic to another....

Most messageboards i go to are completley indiffrent to hotlinking, also with any decent hosting service one small image being linked wont make any appreciable difference to bandwidth usage. I allowed people on the Download Festival forums (rather more busy than this one!) to use my own hosting space as storage for a sig image for the camp we were in, and barely noticed any difference.
