I'm surprised I only got 6 right as I guessed most of them. My DCT knowledge is pretty limited. Now if you did one about old Marvel comics, that would be a completely different story.

Yeah, omly 50. But then again, humour comics aren't my bag. Honestly don't know what people see in them. Give me Adam Eterno or Charley's War anyday.

Which is a bit like someone saying they don't understand what people see in comedy films or sit-coms.

But so much of Brit humour comics is inane slapstick. Okay occassionally but where's the less in-yer-face humour. Y'know, the Woody Allen or Victoria Wood comedy with a bit of intelligence behind it. The nearest we get is Private Eye.

You're comparing comics aimed at two completely different markets. Private Eye is aimed at adults, whilst most UK humour comics of the past 100 years have been aimed at children. Satire doesn't work for children because they don't have the experiences to appreciate such subtle parodies.

That doesn't mean that adults can't appreciate kids' humour comics in terms of story structure and artwork. Considering them mere "inane slapstick" is like dismissing adventure comics as being "mostly running about and fighting". Also, artists such as Ken Reid, Roy Wilson, and Dudley Watkins were equally as skilled as most adventure artists. Drawing "realistically" isn't a prerequisite of being a good comics artist.
