For anyone who is interested there is an obituary in today's issue of The Guardian. It looks at his artistic life and focuses on his time as editor of Mad magazine, during which there was a period when it was shifting 2,000,000 copies a week.

I don't think he was one of the greats but I think he was a catalyst for great things at E.C. I actually enjoyed his version of MAD more than Harvey Kurtzman's for some reason.
