Has anyone seen any of the Cinebook line of European comics reprints yet? What is the quality like?

I picked up the 4 part Wind in the Willow adaption. Very nice art. They now have a Website at...

I have the Biggles/Falklands one (which doesn't seem to have Biggles in it, so Biggles fans steer clear) and the Blake & Mortimer. Both are excellent pieces of work, and the translation seems good too.

Thanks to you opening the topic here, I checked them out and ordered a bunch from Amazon. The quality is good, the same as their European formats. Not sure how well they'll sell over here though, as the gentler pace of European humour hasn't always met with success in the UK. (Asterix and Tin Tin being the notable exceptions.) How many British publishers has Lucky Luke had for example?

Good to see them in the UK though. (And compared to the average UK price of a comic being around ?2 they're great value.)

Along with the selection of Manga we have, plus US "graphic novels", various 2000AD albums, and collections of Steel Claw, Charley's War, Spider, Commando, James Bond and Modesty Blaise I think we're now in a better position than we've ever been for British readers to appreciate the variety of world comics. Although as ever, the wealth of material from the history of British humour comics is neglected outside of The Broons and Classics from the Comics.

I agree and find I am buying faster than I can read at the moment due to so much tempting stuff coming out. Really like the look of the Dan Dare hardcovers but can't afford to get everything. Have been reading some Tintin and Showcase Presents recently and the latter take an age to finish. Hope to get more of the Cinebooks stuff soon.
