Hand drawn? They haven't used hand drawn logos since what, 1988? Definitely not after 1993. Looks good, although it is quite similar to the Beano logo.

EDIT: Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Dandy/121479097908918
DC Thomson corporate Twitter: http://twitter.com/DC_Thomson

Guess they'll probably give The Beano Twitter and Facebook pages soon too.

Eh? Well it isn't even linked to on the website. Probably wasn't meant for public viewing yet - Beano.com (did the BBC News article about this mean Beanotown.com?) is supposed be relaunching soon as well, to replace the Beano Club, I think they'll publicise it then. Thanks.

Ah yes I did a number of logos for The Dandy, this was the one that made it. Very pleased people like it! I've been pretty involved in the relaunch for some time now, it's been hard keeping it quiet.

I'm away on the relaunch date (gutted!), but I've just been writing my blog post about it all, to post up when I'm away. It has reminded me why this is a really exciting move by The Dandy, and excellent news for comics as a whole. I think everyone will like it a lot, yessir.

Eeeeenteresting. Facebook (where you're supposed to be 13 minimum to join up) and Twitter aren't really 'little kid' things, so I wonder if they're hoping to build up a bit of a culty style following of older readers too.

Looooove the new logo!!! Congratulations Jamie!

One other thing that will be interesting to know - page count and paper stock to be used. The Beano certainly suffers from a bit of 'floppiness' on the shelves - hoping The Dandy gets a good dose of ComicViagra to stand proud in the shops!

Beano and Dandy are being standardised on that score aren't they? So does that mean Dandy goes down to 32 pages (from Xtreme's 36) and no longer has the stiff cover?

I think you've answered your own question there!

I would have said it's more akin to the very first Dandy logo if anything, but with a modern twist.

It doesn't look much like the beano logo to me, apart from being on a curve and red and yellow being the colours, which seems to have been the dandy's original colours in any case,, making the beano the follower, not the leader. If anything, the beano logo looks most like that original dandy logo. It's much cleaner and more mathematical than either dandy logos.

As someone else said, this one looks fun!

The logo is very bold..
Xtreme didn't win the title battle..The Dandy is too strong a brand name..run away Xtreme run away..

We will have a Dandy of a time...
If Jamie is doing the title then Desperate Dan has to be on the cover by Jamie...

Not necessarily... he'll be doing lots of other stuff besides Dan remember, he said so when I asked him about Dan's future on Twitter. I didn't know at the time that that would include the logo! Dan being on the cover would make a lot of sense though, although it wouldn't surprise me if it was a story preview panel, like Dennis is nowadays on The Beano's cover.
